After the summer break the teams start training generally from the last week of September. These training camps are ideal for coaches to evaluate the physical and mental status of the senior players and especially rookies and prepare them for the upcoming NBA season. During this training session the coach scouts for the strength and weakness of each individual player and the team as a whole. The regular season of NBA is quite rigorous and hence this training is imperative. During this time the coach also builds up the roster of 12 active players and 3 inactive players and the regular NBA season is started based on this roster. Teams can assign those players who have less than 2 years of playing experience to the NBA development league so that they can improve their performance. .
